For her second interview, Alys speaks with Esther Evans, to learn more about her experiences.
Tell me a bit about yourself
I moved to Wales 11 years ago from Portsmouth on the South Coast to get married to Nick. I very much enjoy the scenery and open space in Wales and feel I am lucky to live in such a beautiful place.
My husband and I are also very lucky to have 3 pet Kune Kune pigs, 5 dogs and 3 horses who all keep me busy outside of work.
I have always been in a customer focused environment and enjoy talking to people and building trusting relationships with them. I pride myself in being professional and friendly – First impressions really do count.
How do you find it working for Quartix?
I have been running Reception now for 16 months. I genuinely enjoy my job and dealing with all my colleagues in every department throughout the company, customers, engineers and distributors alike.
How would you describe the Company culture?
Everyone at Quartix is customer focused, approachable, accountable, friendly and will always do the best for our customers and colleagues alike. Everyone at Quartix will help with any query that may come in which shows true team spirit.
What would a typical day of yours look like?
As first point of contact my primary role is to take all calls and efficiently determine the nature of the call and transfer the caller to the relevant department. I handle approximately 70 – 90 calls per day. I also manage the enquiries email inbox again transferring customer emails to relevant departments. Each day will be different depending on the needs of our customers.
What skills do you think you need to do your job?
I believe that being approachable, being able to listen to our customers and then knowing which department them through to are key skills as Receptionist. Receiving and reissuing information with attention to detail to ensure customers receive a second to none experience.
