Tell me a bit about yourself
I have lived in Newtown my whole life and have worked for Quartix for about 2 and a half years. I started off doing accounts for the UK side of the company, but have now switched to doing accounts for the US. I am a keen footballer, playing up to 5 times a week. I play for the local team Maesyrhandir (and ‘Team Quartix’ whenever we play!). I also love playing darts for my local pub, and I am Vice chairman of the local darts league.
How do you find working for Quartix?
The atmosphere at Quartix is great and there is a real family feel within the company, so it’s a nice environment to work in. The job itself presents many different challenges. The accounts office is always very busy, so you have to be on top form to keep on top of the work each month. Even with the volume of work we have as a team, the atmosphere is generally quite relaxed and everyone is always willing to help if anyone needs a hand.
How would you describe the company culture?
Within my role at Quartix, I work with both UK and US customers and staff, all of whom have very different opinions and backgrounds. The amount of diversity within the company is huge and has allowed me to gain a better understanding and knowledge of how other countries operate their businesses and how they go about handling situations. The biggest part of my role is understanding how the UK and US customers differ in their needs and expectations, and how to meet these and ensure that we are able to provide the best service available.
What’s a day in your life like?
My role in the US accounts team is very varied. Primarily, I am the main person responsible for ensuring US accounts are up-to-date. This include preparing daily invoices, processing purchase ledger invoices, following up with credit control tasks and dealing with general customer queries.
